About Chromonotorne

I always wanted to have an online place that allowed me to share some of the stuff I do. But all previous attempts ended-up fizzling out, abandoned and eventually, deleted. This time though things were different.

Oneself

The past year, I discovered that it is really important to me to be connected with my more creative, artistic side. Primarily with music and writing, but other related activities as well. It became apparent when I started actively doing those two things again, whilst seeking a way out of despair due to neverending boredom.

It was also timely hearing Stephen Fry quoting Oscar Wilde: … if you know what you want to be, then you inevitably become it - that is your punishment, but if you never know, then you can be anything.

I promptly searched for Oscar Wilde quotes and found the full thing: If you want to be a grocer, or a general, or a politician, or a judge, you will invariably become it; that is your punishment. (reference)

Consequently, I started using the language that Stephen Fry mentioned: be a verb, not a noun. So I’m not a musician, I write music. I’m not a programmer, I write code. And so on. That opened up new avenues - language is a powerful thing indeed as many greats have said!

So starting writing music, songs, and lyrics again helped a lot with my overall wellbeing. It made everything nicer! I was playing guitar as much as I could, whenever I felt like I needed to. And I wrote lyrics for the songs or thoughts around the related melodies. Shortly after, I felt like I found myself again.

Access thy stuff

I also realised that the main reason my past website attempts had gone down the drain was that it wasn’t as easy as it should be to add content. It wasn’t Facebook or Twitter easy!

So this time, when I started putting this together, I prioritised the ease of adding content from the platform I have with me all the time: my smartphone :) And the journey of putting all together started! It will never end though, since we always fiddle more or less with things we care about. So I'm really hoping this time that I won't give it up. At least now it's easy to post things here whenever, whereever.

Inevitably

... I spent some of my free time over the past year (I've been busy with work as well so took slow but done it properly IMO) to put this web place together. I didn’t want to use any of the toolkits that allow you to do that quickly because I’m fussy, and I also find it creative. In addition to that, I like having in the back of my head the blueprints of how the whole thing works – which is also a bit silly, because if you don't regularly check you source code you forget. Anyhow, it is now in a state that I'm not completely embarrassed of how it looks like, so it's online. It feels nice to build the tools you actually use! Hope you like it, even just a bit.

I'll keep tinkering as I go. And will be adding content (music, text, and whatnot) in variable rates, completely depending on the mood and the free time on my hands.

One thing I wanted to be sure of, is that I won't be using any cookies for any reason. Cookies on web pages make people uncomfortable because they can't be sure of what you do with any information that's being shared when they surf the web (wow, what an old-fashioned phrase :) ). So we're cookie free! Yay!

So what is Chromonotorne?

It's a set of trails, a band, a collaboration experiment. It's songs, it's music, it's lyrics, it's stories, it's friendships, but most importantly I feel it's me as a collective of all the manifestations of my creativity. So the content will vary wildly :D!

Trails by the way, are what I call all variable length journeys (both metaphorically and literally) we make every day. They are all over the place. Not in a straight line, or not in a line either. Whatever their shape or nature, I believe they are what makes every the person who they are. And I'll be sharing some of mine here, because I think others may have been on similar trails, and if they value what's here then I'm happy! :)

So...

... dear visitor, I hope you'd find something interesting here to keep dropping by once-in-a-while to check things out. It's highly probable that we may have shared a trail or two! Thank you for stopping by.
